How to Eliminate Toxicity
Vol. 1 Issue 2

There are many layers and nuances when dealing with a toxic employee. Let’s explore simple solutions that will carry anyone above and beyond dealing with toxicity in the workplace and into the future with positivity. Let’s discuss…
Purpose
The Right Question
Whether a start-up, small, or large corporation, hiring or encountering a toxic employee is always risky. To be fair, a toxic employee may not be a ‘bad person’ per se. It is possible they are a good person who happens to be misaligned with the company's values and principles. Studies show that there are infinite factors associated with someone becoming toxic. The confusion stems from the potential trade-off or production versus behavior that is harmful to an organization.
The question shifts from
How do I get rid of this toxic person?
to
How do I make my business values, principles, and mission understood and embraced by my employees?
The Value
With no exaggeration, neglecting toxic misconduct is costly! It is better to spend the time, energy, and money in streamlining your business values, principles, and mission for alignment than to try to change someone’s behavior in the backend.
The Streamlined Solution
In the majority of the situations that I have encountered, the breakdown is in communication. Having crystal clear expectations of behavioral conduct will help guide this business owner in addressing misplaced and misaligned employees. The good news is that aligning your business is now faster than ever. Build a streamlined business snapshot that is easy to enforce and easy for employees to follow in all circumstances.
Call to Action
Alignment
Take some time this week to identify your expectations. These behaviors should already be practiced such as honesty, loyalty, etc. Build a streamlined business snapshot that is easy to enforce and easy for employees to follow in all circumstances. The snapshot should include your business values, principles, and mission for alignment. Focus on the leader in you.
We would love to hear your feedback. Send an email to [email protected] with questions and comments about the leader in you.
Author’s Note
I began writing at a very young age as a way to communicate the things I did not have the courage to say out loud. Today, I write the things that I have the courage to say to the masses. My deepest thoughts and solutions come from solitude, silence, and writing. I wrote in the compilation Ignite Possibilities at a time when I was not sure where all of my possibilities came from. I had big dreams with limited resources (or so I thought). Thank goodness, I was right to have big dreams and wrong about having limited resources. Little did I know, I had everything I needed. I started both Elite Acuity LLC and this newsletter because I wanted everyone to understand that all abundance and possibilities are within.
